Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it. Are you prepared? If not, now is the time to get prepared. You don’t want to wake up the morning of February 14 empty handed and scrambling to find something cute for that special person in your life that let’s you see them naked.
Here are some things I’ve made that make great gifts for your lover.
“Lovesick Sea Creatures”
gift cards, pack of 5, $10 order here
Of course, I have plenty of other goodies that would make great gifts too. These just happen to be the ones that are more specific to Valentine’s Day. To see everything I have to offer please visit the following sites: jeffclaassen.supermarkethq.com jeffclaassen.etsy.com.
Step three: Our piece shows up in the “Hot Dates” of the current issue of New Times.
Step four: Our piece gets press twice in the same issue. This time in an article promoting the art show.
Step five: You go to the show tonight to see the painting in person. In fact, you might even buy it. I think it’s priced at $200.
The show is tonight from 7 to 10 p.m.
Heaven and Earth Gallery
964 Chorro St. (near The Mission)
Featuring artwork by Soak, Gwap, Sydwox, Jeff Claassen, Stenzskull, Gary Ellsworth and others. This show is a fundraiser for Rowen Sidaris-Green, another local artist, who needs help paying for a defense lawyer. Refreshments and snacks will be served. The show will hang through Thursday, Feb. 2.

That’s right, Elliott rocks the fresh kicks!
After all of these years and I’ve never painted shoes before. Elliott seems to like them. When he’s not wearing them he’s eating them and I think that says a lot about how much he likes something.
If you want to get some shoes custom painted let me know. With all the size and color options out there you’ll have to provide the shoes. You get the best results with cotton canvas. You know, shoes like Vans, Converse, Toms, Ben Simon, Keds, etc.
Prices start at $30. That will get you something similar to what Elliott is wearing.
OK, so that’s the deal. Let’s make your feet happy!
Drop your shoes off at the gallery and get some custom kicks!

This edition is so close to selling out that I’m getting anxious to find homes for the last remaining copies. This is number 61 out of 100. There are actually only 6 copies left, but they’ve been sold out of order.
I drew a little character on the inside back cover so the winning bidder will get something a little more unique than just a book. There are some other goodies included in the auction as well. There is a photo of the drawing on the listing. If you want to check it out or place a bid please visit: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130633855295.

This one is called “Pretty Please With Sugar On Top” and I made it back in 2005. Included in the auction is a signed book, a couple of bottle opener keychains, stickers and some buttons. A pretty sweet little package if you ask me.
If there is anything you need from the gallery please come by between now and Friday, 12-5pm. We’ll be closed on Saturday and will reopen for our regular business hours next week. That’s Wed-Sat, 12-5pm.
I’d say “Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close” was my most favorite book I read in all of 2011. When I’m in between books (because I’ve become a super picky book reader over the last couple of years) I find myself rereading parts of “Extremely Loud.”
At Costco the other day I noticed the book with a new cover. It was a movie poster book cover. I didn’t even know a movie of this book was coming out, so I was very excited.
The trailer doesn’t seem to show any scenes with the grandma though, so I hope she wasn’t cut out of the movie because she was kind of a big deal in the book.
At the end of the trailer it says “December”, but I think the actual release date is January 20, 2011.

Patrick Lawler has the magic to make any situation fun. This slow motion film of Dolores Park Hipsters is no exception. I’ve never wanted to jump into a sea of hipsters more than I do now. Way to go, Pat. You hit another one out of the park.
My favorite parts: the hula hoop, the dude pouring that horrid Pabst Blue Ribbon down his throat, and of course, Pat eating a Sponge Bob popsicle.
