This is the kind of thing I find after letting Evy use my iPad.

Hello All!

I have decided to close the gallery for spring break this year. With the kids out of school for a week it gets hectic and pretty overwhelming trying to run the shop and keep watch over hyperactive needy children.

I will reopen on April 11, 2012. If you would like to purchase artwork (not art supplies) please send me a message and we can schedule an appointment so you won’t have to wait until April 11. However, the best thing would be to order online at http://www.etsy.com/shop/jeffclaassen. Although the gallery will be closed I’ll still be active online and will be shipping out orders.

Here is another little beat I made using iKaossilator. I made this while hanging out in the donut shop.

Every Tuesday I have an hour to kill while Evy is at her baton twirling class. It’s too much trouble to drive home for an hour so I’ve gotten into the habit of getting my Thai iced tea fix every Tuesday afternoon.

This is by far the ugliest face I’ve ever painted. In no way am I saying that to fish for compliments. Quite simply, I just think it’s funny. The face was fine until I added that crazy Jay Leno chin, which happened to be the last line I painted on the thing.

A little word of advice for other artists out there. You win some, you lose some. In the end you have to remind yourself that it’s just paint, so you might as well laugh at the ugly things you make.

It is officially spring! What does that mean? It’s time to clean! That’s right, it’s Spring Cleaning time over here at The Claassen Gallery. I have SO MUCH artwork stockpiled that it’s driving my crazy. I set up a special “SALE” category in my etsy shop for the pieces I have that need new homes.

Seriously, I’m no musician, but I’ve become obsessed with music apps. Here’s a little something I came up with using Korg’s iKaossilator.

I was going for a dark creepy vibe.

Almost nine months old, this kid.

Evelyn broke my heart tonight. She made me remove Arcade Fire and Phoenix from her ipod. Much to my dismay she had no interest in having The White Stripes take up any of the 8 available gigabytes of precious space on her Nano. Then she called Regina Spektor “Vagina Inspector”, which, I have to admit, was funny, but she still didn’t want Regina anywhere near a playlist within hearing distance. Once again, I reach out to each and every one of you for prayers to guide Evelyn’s taste in music. The poor girl needs some serious help.

I painted this almost a year ago and decided it was time to offer it as an 8″ x 10″ print. The print is signed on the back and is available for $16 in my etsy shop.
