Things I Love Thursday: Aubrey Beardsley

Aubrey Beardsley is one of my favorite artists. Not only is his work super spectacular, but he’ll light a fire under your ass. The guy was extremely prolific and in 1898 he died at the early age of 25. Just a kid. I was still working my dead end customer service job at 25 and Mr. Beardsley was an accomplished artist/illustrator who was actually fortunate enough to enjoy fame during his own lifetime. At 25 years of age that’s something most artists never get to experience. If I find myself procrastinating with my art or feel that I’m slacking off and not taking it very seriously I need to look no further than Aubrey to get myself motivated.

Here are some of my favorite pieces.

“The Climax”

“Of A Neophyte, And How The
Black Art Was Revealed Unto Him”

“The Stomach Dance”

“The Peacock Skirt”

Find out more about Aubrey Beardsley.

Enjoy!

Glad you like them! I just learned about Aubrey about a year and half ago and have been semi-obsessed ever since.
