Introducing: New Mini Print Editions

Hello! I’m stoked to announce the release of these new “mini prints”. These are all 4″ x 4″ and $20 each. For you early bird collectors you can get $5 if you order now. Use code MINILOVE during checkout. This offer will end Aug. 10 at 11:59pm PST.

Offering “mini prints” is new for me and I hope you like them. They’re a fun, cute size and at $20 a piece very collectible. I also thought it would be nice to make them in smaller runs of 20 as opposed to my other editions which are 50.

Four New Paintings Of Cute Little Creatures

I just finished these four paintings a couple of nights ago. They were painted as pairs, but are available individually. All four are 4″ x 4″, mixed media on wood. To purchase any (or all, hint, hint!) of these please visit my shop at jeffclaassen.storenvy.com or click on the individual images for fancy direct links.

Remember these are all one of kind originals. Once they are gone they are gone forever. If you want the whole set or just a pair I will include some extra bonus goodies when I mail them to you.

Here are some sassy sea creatures.

“Samuel”

“Sebastian”

And some woodland creatures.

“Hector”

“Jose”

Keep in mind, I’m totally open to commissions too. If you like these creatures, but want them in different colors let me know and we’ll get something going for you.

Thanks for looking!

Christmas Commission: Five Bunnies For Cadee

Cadee is a true patron of the arts. She might have enough of my work to open her own “Claassen Gallery”. Ten days before Christmas I get an email from Cadee asking about getting some bunny paintings for her nieces. After a couple of ideas were tossed around we agreed that watercolor on paper would be the best.

The nice thing about painting on paper is that it eliminates the 4 days of drying time I need to allow for the resin coating to fully harden on the paintings and prints I make on wood. With Christmas ten days away we really didn’t have much time, especially when you calculate the shipping time for that time of year.

We also went with 5″ x 7″, which is a standard frame size.

I should tell you a little story why I was asked to paint these in the first place. It’s a flattering story, but also funny. Cadee’s nieces asked their mom if they could get bunnies for Christmas and were told no. Smart girls that they are asked Auntie Cadee, who doesn’t say no to anything, for bunnies. At this point Cadee was threatened, “If you get my kids bunnies I am getting your kids goats!” And this is the flattering part. Cadee thought, “What’s the next best thing…Claassen bunnies!”

So, there you have it. It’s just that easy to get artwork made specifically for you. I am usually pretty open to taking on projects like this. If you ever see something of mine that you’d like, but has already sold or maybe it’s not the colors you like, let me know. I’m sure we could figure something out.

Thanks for looking!

A Late Night With The Other Nocturnal Family Member

late night chillin' with pascal.

Pascal moved into my work studio a couple of weeks ago. We now keep each other company during the day and on these late night painting sessions. I’ve never been a pet person, but Pascal really won my heart. I mean, look at that smooshed up little face of his…seriously.

My night

This cart has really made my life easier. I love having all my supplies in one space. And it’s mobile so I never have to leave my chair. It’s a perfect marriage of artist laziness and workaholic effectiveness.

My night

Tonight, I’m finishing up the “Welcome to…” portion of this sign for Batch, a local ice cream sandwich shop. Very tasty and I highly recommend checking them out. The next step to this project is a 4′ x 6′ sign. I keep referring to it as menu board, but it’s not so much a menu board as it is a “call to action” board letting customers know the proper steps on how to order. More on that in a future post.

My night

Never a night goes by without music. I’ve been super into Hip Hop and Pandora (Kid Cudi Radio) ever since I got out of my Girl Talk, All Day phase. Seriously, I listened to that for months. With over 300 samples from so many genres of music it really is hard to get bored with.

And there you have it. That’s my night.

Sweet dreams!
