The “Sing To Me” Girl Needs Glasses

My friends over at Uber Optics asked if I could add “big nerdy black frames” to the girl on my “Sing To Me” greeting cards. Of course I can!

I hand painted nerdy black frames on 25 of these cards. Fun stuff.

Check out Uber Optics on the FB.

And if you have any ideas or custom requests for my art please let me know. I’ve hand painted everything from skateboards to lamps to truck tailgates and once a vintage antique clawfoot bathtub. I’ve even painted a few pet portraits.

Claassen Art Tour On Google Maps And How To Make Your Own Custom Map

I made a map on google where you can see all the locations of my artwork. There are a couple of galleries on there, some businesses and even a couple of public outdoor pieces.

View Claassen Art Tour in a larger map

As a bonus, I decided to write a brief tutorial on how to make your own. Although, before I get into that, you might be asking yourself, “Why do I need a custom map?” Well, here are a few ideas of things you might want a map of. Also, you can share your map, which can come in pretty handy.
Your personal favorite:
– restaurants, cafe’s, etc.
– art galleries
– clothing boutique’s
– bars/clubs
– public parks/pools
– atm’s
– book stores
– local landmarks
– public art
– transit stops
– tattoo shops
– skate spots
– and of course, your favorite brothel’s

As for business’s, say you own a clothing company. You could make a map of all the retail stores where your merchandise can be purchased. The possibilities are quite endless.

Google makes is so simple to make your own custom map that you will slap yourself with a wet noodle for not making one sooner. In fact, it is so simple I feel slightly stupid for taking the time to make these screen captures. Oh well!

1. make sure you are logged into Google.
2. Go to https://maps.google.com.
3. Click the “My Places” link.

4. Click “Create Map”.

5. Make up a title for your map and write a description. I predict that my idea of mapping your favorite drunk spots will be all the rage in the near future.

6. Now it’s time to actually map your locations. I should have labeled these A, B, and C, but I wasn’t thinking. So, part 1 of this step is to type in the address or business name in the search bar. 2 and 3 are pretty much the same thing. If you click that little drop down arrow on 2. some options show up and you want to choose “save to map”. Or do it the easy way and click “save to map” where 3 is.

7. When you are done adding all the locations you want on you map click the “My Places” link and you will see your map listed, like so.

8. When you click on that you will see your actual map in all of it’s drunken glory. You know, if your map is one to show all your favorite spots to get intoxicated. To share your map with friends, family, co-workers, and random people you’ve hooked up with at these designated locations, click the little chain icon and you will be given two options. You can copy the link and paste it wherever you’d like. For example, you can text the link to your homies, post in on your FB wall, tweet it, tumblr it, whatever. The second option is to copy the embed code, so you can post the actual map on your blog/website like I did above.

New Painting: Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After

Adam and Sara, soon to be newlyweds, have been supporters of my artwork for years. When they asked me to paint a bride and groom for them I felt honored and happily accepted the challenge. This isn’t so much a portrait of them as it is my own interpretation of a bride and groom. And I think it might be one of the cutest paintings I’ve even made.

They also asked me to make some custom magnets of the painting so they can give them as gifts to their wedding guests.

Custom Magnets for Adam and Sara

I’m always interested in new commission projects, so if you have anything in mind hit me up.

Now available as a limited edition print! Details.

Custom Macbook Cover

Back in April I was commissioned to paint a cover for a Macbook. How could I say no to that? I couldn’t. However, I can certainly procrastinate blogging about it.

Hello All!

The Claassen Gallery is now offering custom buttons! We’ve been using them for years and love them. Now we want to share all the button goodness with you. Buttons are a terrific way to promote your business. Here are just a few ideas of things you can promote using buttons.
– bands
– artwork
– photography
– retail boutique
– your etsy shop
– restaurant
– clothing line
– tattoo shop
– skateboard company
– yoga studio
– funny phrases and inside jokes
– politics
– religion
– you name it, the list goes on and on.

I’ve used buttons as price tags on clothing in my retail shop and I’ve seen friends of mine use buttons to indicate sizes on their screen printed tees. People use them as party favors, teachers use them as prizes in the classroom and a plethora of other things.

Ready to get your custom buttons?
Here’s how it works, in three easy steps.

1. Once payment is received for your order I will email you a design template. Sending a simple round image isn’t good enough because some of the image wraps under in the pressing process. The template will show you the “LIVE AREA” where your design needs to be. You will receive further instructions in the email with the template.

2. You design your button using the template and email it back to me at 300dpi in jpeg or pdf format.

3. Once your design is received your buttons will be put into production. Most orders ship within 3 days of receiving your final design.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Here are a couple examples of buttons done for past clients:

Now Offering Handmade Wallets With YOUR Custom Design

I’ve been making wallets for awhile now and from time to time people have asked for custom ones with their own graphics. I’ve done a few, but it’s never been something I’ve advertised…until now!

I am offering three different options.

custom wallets now available
If you only need one wallet for yourself or to give as a gift then this is the best option. Some gift ideas are a favorite photo (pet, family, band), drawing, painting, funny slogan, etc. Have fun with it.
$24 each, plus shipping.
For more info or to order please visit:

custom wallets now available
The Six Wallet Package: This is also a great option if you want a couple of wallets for yourself or to give as gifts. If you are interested in reselling your wallets this is good option to get your feet wet. I sell my own wallets for $16 each. This package won’t give you the best markup, but if you just want to experiment with reselling before investing in the bigger package it’s a good place to start.

$10 each, plus shipping.
1 design, 6 wallets.
For more info or to order please visit:

custom wallets now available
The Twelve Wallet Package: This is the best option available if you plan to resell your wallets. I’ve had no problem selling my own at $16 each. If you have something to promote like your business, band, artwork, photography this is great way to get your name out there. Give them away to select clients as a useful promotional gift (as opposed to something they throw in a drawer for six months and then toss in the garbage), resell them at events or online, or simply give them out as presents to friends and family.

$8 each, plus shipping.
1 design, 12 wallets.

Hand Painted Custom iPad Case By Jeff Claassen

hand painted ipad cover

Like I’ve said before, lettering is not my thing. Evy suggested I paint my sister’s name on this since it was a present for her. It never would have occurred to me to put her name on it. So, I went for it.

I’ve painted a few cell phone cases, but this is my first iPad case/cover.

If you are interested in getting a custom case painted for your iPad let me know.
The cost is $100 and you will need to provide the case.

Hand Painted Shoes For My Little Man And Now Taking Commissions

shoes for elliott

That’s right, Elliott rocks the fresh kicks!

After all of these years and I’ve never painted shoes before. Elliott seems to like them. When he’s not wearing them he’s eating them and I think that says a lot about how much he likes something.

If you want to get some shoes custom painted let me know. With all the size and color options out there you’ll have to provide the shoes. You get the best results with cotton canvas. You know, shoes like Vans, Converse, Toms, Ben Simon, Keds, etc.

Prices start at $30. That will get you something similar to what Elliott is wearing.

OK, so that’s the deal. Let’s make your feet happy!
Drop your shoes off at the gallery and get some custom kicks!

Now Offering Custom Bottle Opener Keychains

Bottle Cap Opener Keychains are awesome for all sorts of reasons. They are an inexpensive way to get your name/message out there whether you’re an artist, musician, blogger, graphic designer, photographer or if you own a retail boutique, restaurant, bar, etc.

How often do you leave the house without your keys? Imagine having your logo on something that people take with them every time they leave the house. And not only that, but it serves a function…it opens bottles!

Making custom promotional products for people is an idea I’ve been toying around with for awhile. I’ve been making my own bottle opener keychains for a couple of years and have actually done a few for others, but I haven’t really pursued it too much. Until now!

Here are some examples.

Bottle Cap Opener Keychains for Trailer Barn Inc.
Trailer Barn is your one stop shop for trailers on the Central Coast and used these as a free promotional item to give to their customers.

Bottle Cap Opener Keychains for The 1st Line
I made these for The 1st Line, which is a badass punk band from Santa Maria CA. They took advantage of the “split order” option so their fans could choose from a couple different designs. They’ve sold these at shows and given them away as freebies.

Bottle Cap Opener Keychains for Dr Cain's Comics & Games
I made a small batch of these for my neighbor across the street from the gallery, Dr. Cain’s Comics. He sells them in his shop and passes them along to friends.

If you’re interested in getting some bottle cap opener keychains made with your logo, graphic, artwork, etc. here is a little break down for you.

Custom bottle opener keychains are available in increments of 12.

12 – $2.75 each
24 or 36 – $2.50 each
48 or 60 – $2.25 each
72 or 84 $2.00 each
96 and up is $1.75 each

For each increment of 12 you can switch your design and still get the price break. If you order 36 you can get 3 designs and it will be $2.50 each.

Here’s a little inside secret from one artist to another. I’ve had no trouble selling mine at $5 a piece on etsy and in my retail space. It’s a good markup for you and a great price point for customers. It’s a win win!

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

If you’d like to place an order please use the Contact Form letting me know what quantity you’d like to order and I will email you the template to make your design with. For payment I can send you a paypal invoice or I can take your payment information over the phone. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there.

Thanks much!
I hope to hear from you soon!
