Valentine’s Day Commission For Dorian
Now that Valentine’s Day has come and passed I can post this without giving anything away. Mid January I received the following facebook message from Dorian:
Jeff,
I have 2 of your little pieces (“fly away” and “i own this town“) and would like to find out if you would consider doing an original for a V-Day present for my husband. I have an idea of elements I would want represented, but that is it, the rest could be yours to create.
I would want it to have three characters representing my husband, me and our son Brody. I would like it to be titled “One Love” (after the Bob Marley song), but it doesn’t have to be cheesy lovesy. You could do faces or people or birds (3 little birds…another Marley reference).
Anyways, thought I’d ask. I just like your art and thought it might be a nice gift. Let me know if you do something like this and a price range.
Thanks,
Dorian
Naturally, I said yes. I love commission work that has very little direction. The more freedom the better. Eventually, Dorian decided that three faces would be best and after a look around the gallery she had pointed out that my “blockhead” style faces were among her favorites. Oh, and she also told me she would like to see some red in the painting since it was, afterall, for Valentine’s Day. Here is what I made for her.

“One Love”
16″ x 20″ – mixed media on wood
If you are interested in commissioning me to make something for you let me know. I’m usually game for it.
Thanks for looking!
