Pascal’s Peeps: Exchanging The Needle For A Brush

I’ve decided to make some blog posts specifically highlighting paintings from the Pascal’s Peeps Group Show. Between the forty five artists we ended up with just over one hundred pieces in the show and I think that would be a little too much to scroll through in a single post. So, for this first post I’d like to introduce you to four artists, all of which happen to be professional tattoo artists. I’m not sure how we ended up with a small group of tattooists, but we did and I’m super stoked about it. Here’s what happens when a tattoo artist trades in his needles and skin for some paint and brushes.

Louie actually couldn’t put the needle down for too long as evidenced by the above piece, which is an actual pig skin he tattooed. How awesome is that?

Owl Tattoo

Ashley has entered the ranks of the “biggest fan” category by putting my art permanently on her body.

Owl Tattoo, cahoots with me

Here’s the original painting with my little owl dude. Big ups to Danny Derrick from Sink Or Swim in Grover Beach, CA for his amazing perfection. Take a look at how he even got the wood grain from the original into the tattoo. It looks identical. I’m super impressed!

I’d like to send a big thanks to Ashley, for the support and to Danny for his flawless execution. And what the hell, how about to the whole crew at Sink Or Swim. Thanks, all!

As always, if you want to get a tattoo of my work I fully encourage it. I literally have 100’s of images to choose from. Check out my sold artwork and available artwork sets on flickr.

Tattoo!

tattoo

This is the third tattoo I know of with my artwork. It’s very exciting to know there are fans that like my work enough to get it permanently added to their body. Thanks for the support, Laura!

Angel Tattoo

Ah, the permanent ink from a tattoo machine. What could possibly say, “I like your artwork” more than this?

My Darling Angel Tattoo - 01.1

My Darling Angel Tattoo - 01.2

To my knowledge this is the first tattoo of my artwork. I’m assuming if there were others out there I would have heard about them by now. Anyway, the source for this particular tattoo was a painting I called “My Darling Angel”.

I don’t have the time to draw custom tattoo’s, but I did draw a couple of stars for Cassi to use. I think the stars on her arm are different than the ones in the original painting. Also, I’m not sure if the little whimsical line was something I drew specifically or if Cassie found it off my site or if the tattoo artist drew it on his own. Regardless, I think it turned out great. I like the pink fill and outline.

If there are any other tattoo’s of my artwork floating around out there I would love to see them. And if you are interested in getting a tattoo with my artwork you have my permission. I would be flattered. For reals. I wouldn’t advertise drawing custom tattoo’s, but I’m not completely opposed to it either. It depends on how short I am on rent that month. I would probably charge a lot and encourage using something I have already done so you don’t have to pay for a custom drawing.

A big thank you goes out to Cassi for representing!
